Bush: Bloodshed in Iraq Is 'Worth It'

AP - 56 minutes ago

FORT BRAGG, N.C. - President Bush on Tuesday appealed for the nation's patience for "difficult and dangerous" work ahead in Iraq, hoping a backdrop of U.S. troops and a reminder of Iraq's revived sovereignty would help him reclaim control of an issue that has eroded his popularity. In an evening address at an Army base that has 9,300 troops in Iraq, Bush was acknowledging the toll of the 27-month-old war. At the same time, he aimed to persuade skeptical Americans that his strategy for victory needed only time — not any changes — to be successful.

yeah he thinks its worth it until its someone he loves that goes missing or gets killed in iraq...bastard

look at the big picture heather. he's not saying, ok you can die, just cause. so yea go die. what he's looking at is that what he's doing is making a difference. nobody wants our soldiers to lose their lives, but if duty calls, then they know the chances before hand. someone wants to serve our country, let them. the draft is NOT back in use yet, everybody in the armed forces is there by their own free will. lay off the man. i give him mad props for what he's done thus far.

i agree with why we went over there in the first place...but i dont think we should still be tehre...everyday on the news you hear about dozens of troops being killed...not to mention the missing ones and prisoners that the majority of the country has no clue about...this war is slowly turning into the next vietnam...i agree with you kristi...nuke the bastards

ok here is my 2 cents. bush is an moran, has been a moran since the day he took office, i dont agree with any single thing that he has ever done for this country and it was a fluke that he got re elected. to say blooshed is worth it is retarted. yeah we got sadam out of there  but in my honest opinion we didnt even need to go in there in the first place, there was not a damn immediate threat to go into iraq and do what th united states did, i jus think its ridiculous, granted its all in the past but it is still retarted what he did, to use 9/11 to his advantage and go after sadam jus cuz his gay ass dad didnt get him the first time in my opinion is STUPID

ok since i'm sure i'll get flamed for it i'll go ahead and say it, This is a free country #1, So we all have the freedom of speech, and I support bush 110% in what he does, not only for being a christian and believing that what he does is right, but for hoping and trusting in our country for who they chose to be the president. If they didn't like him the 1st time around they never should have elected him the 2nd time.

Even though i may not be democrat or whatever i think that people should lay off bush for a little bit, the man has a hard enough job without everyone in the world being like well YOU SUCK! i know everyone is entitled to their opinion but still, try and be nice to the guy, I may not agree with what he does sometimes but i can at least give the man some respect and trust in what he is doing. Honestly i'm with all of you guys, NUKE'm! seriously but unfortunately we can't b/c the America which is the "world police" are already looked down upon for even going in there, even though we did the world a favor by gettin rid Saddam.

If it had been as simple as getting rid of him and hoping that they would choose a better guy i don't think we would have stayed any longer than we had to. But it doesn't seem like that was the case now does it, We are on a course right now to persevere and drive out all forms of terrorism, and to think that by not going in there would have "stopped" any further attacks is a terrible thought, I know that i am wrong in my logic somewhere so don't bother pointing it out. All i'm saying is that, Bush may not do everything right, and in some peoples minds He hasn't done a darn thing right. And thats fine, thanks to Ammendment #1 We can say that. But the soldiers that he sends i'm sure he doesn't say to himself, HA HA lets see how long this bunch last. I think he is thinking what is the quickest and easiest way to end this long war that is gettin all of americas Sons and Daughters killed in the worlds toilet? If he could end the war and know that we had gotten the main people in this terror war out of where they need to be i'm sure he'd end it asap. But you also have to remember, people sign up for the army, air force, navy, marines ETC ETC everyday. If no one in this country ever wanted to do what was right, For democracy, for justice, for FREEDOM, then we wouldn't have an army. Being that my parents were both in the air force, cousins in the marines and friends in the navy, air force, and marines, i can say that hearing from them what they think might be different from my views but i know for one that i can say that they are glad someone finally took action. They have lost friends in this war as we all have. But they know that they didn't die for nothing, They died protecting and serving our country. Protecting the rights to freedom and a just nation, Died protecting those they don't know who are from another country. They just like you don't want to live in a country where saying something bad about someone else, gets you beheaded, enslaved, and better yet...tortured. We are lucky to live in america. and i know my views are shared by few and far between but this is how i feel.

I won't be discussing politics anymore simply b/c they bring out the worst in people.

IN short: All i'm saying is that we should give the guy some credit for at least ridding the world of the worlds biggest war criminal. thats all. We lost friends and family, they knew the risk, it doesn't fix it but at least we know they died protecting the freedom they swore to protect.

-w00kie out!

i dont think religion should have anything to do with this...religious people are the most hypocritical people i have ever met in my life...and bush is no different...

but as for the subject of this topic...there is no reason for us to still be over there...i agree that we still need to look for bin laden but i highly doubt he is in iraq...he never was to begin with...my friend alden was over there for six months before being injured and having to return home...he told me that it was the worst thing he's seen in his life...he described it as some of the scenes straight out of black hawk down...he told me how he never believed that war movies were an acurate protrayal of what happened but they are...you go over there to help and the people revolt against you...you lose your brothers and sisters in uniform...you're eating a meal when the tent is attacked...it is non stop...and its not us causing it...its them...if we were to just leave them be it wouldnt be happening...you can only help so much if they arent willing to help themselves

what, may i ask, makes you think that if we just "stepped out" why they wouldnt bring all of their attacks to U.S. soil? heather, your vision is clouded by the loss of your friend. i'm not underminding that at all, that situation is still horrible. but... dont let emotions get in the way of logical thinking.

Heather,

This is a very sensitive subject for everyone. Bush did not mean that in any harmful way. He has visited a crapload of Families and soliders who have been inured in Iraq or for the families of the ones who don't make it back. In reality you have to put this war in perspective with History. At this point in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan we have lost a combined 1,800 soldiers give or take. While every life is precious this number is so small compared to other wars we have fought in. We lost 56,000 men in Vietnam 56,000. That is a big difference. In WW2 we lost 50,000+ in ONE day on D-Day. People that say that we are losing men for no reason are in effect trivializing the loses of our other generation of soldiers. Yes there are no WMDS but as we saw in London yesturday the terroist have not reached our shores yet. They have a small area that they can work in. Our Soldiers being over there is keeping them from turning us into another Israel. Do you want to live in the fear of car bombs and suicide bombers? I sure as hell don't. One of the things Bush said from the beginning was that we were going to take the fight TO the enemy whomever that may be. TO keep it from reaching our shores again. I am not saying it won't ever reach here but so far so good. As long as the terrorist are streaming into Iraq to fight our Military who volunteer for service they don't have the manpower nor resources to organize another 9/11 type attack. Sorry for the rant I am just tired of the views a lot of people have. Nothing personal and was more just a general statement then directly to you.

P.s Just re read the thread. Sorry for the lose of your Friend.

Ken Oh car should be done in a month! Nice to be back.
