The real question is, what are you going to want to do to this engine?

DAVISON! i'm ashamed of you. you said header in the same sentence as turbo. if you have a turbo, its no longer a header. its called a turbo manifold. c'mon man.

Well, what are your power goals? I'm just trying to think of the cheapest way for you to get to them safely. I mean, there is no sense in buying a Type-R motor if you are going to want to drop the compression down (which a lot of people do, but it isn't neccessary). If you can attain your power goals with a GSR motor, why spend the extra dough on an ITR engine?

you got an LS right?  if so then keep your block and just put the GSR heads on it....

yeah i heard taht putting the block on the ls motor is a bad thing like it leaks and stuff i didnt really wana spend that much money so i was kinda ruling out a type R and prolly jus gunna go with a gsr but im still not to sure

Well, in some cases, a Type-R engine would make sense, especially if you were getting a full swap, not just the engine. I would highly recommend against LS/VTEC or any other mating of a VTEC head to a non-VTEC block. It is just really hard to do well, and I bet you are searching for a more reliable setup.

The real question is, how long have they been running and how much maintenance is needed to keep them that way? As I said, it can be done, but I highly doubt that Davidson wants something like that.

FORWARNING!

Davidson... be sure whatever you do to that car, you do it soon. I have recently (tonight) gotten my Bronco to my hizzal! And I will be lining up with a few choice EM members.... no doubt I will get my ass handed to me with a new **** burned into it.....probably by an import... but it still seemed like something fun to say!! hehehehe

if done properly the ls/vtec is just as reliable as anything else, and the maitenence isn/t that high or at least no higher than that of a gsr or type-r
